Shilpa Shetty has firmly denied speculation that her Bandra-based restaurant, Bastian, is shutting down. The actress took to Instagram to clarify that the popular eatery is not closing, but rather undergoing an exciting transformation.
“No, I am not shutting down Bastian, I promise,” she stated in a video message, addressing the wave of concern from fans and patrons. Shetty explained that the Bandra outlet will be reimagined as Ammakai, a South Indian restaurant celebrating Mangalorean cuisine, while the Bastian brand itself will relocate to Juhu under the new banner Bastian Beach Club.
“I’ve received countless calls and messages. I truly feel the love for Bastian, but let’s not turn that love into something toxic. I’m here to say Bastian is going nowhere,” she added.
Shetty also expressed her excitement about the new ventures: “Something new and brilliant is on the horizon. I’m returning to my roots with Ammakai in Bandra, offering authentic South Indian flavours, and bringing the vibrant energy of Bastian to Juhu with Bastian Beach Club. I can’t wait for you all to experience these fresh chapters of Bastian hospitality.”
In her caption, Shetty credited her brother and business partner, Ranjeet Bindra, for spearheading the transformation: “So BASTIAN is staying, going nowhere! Full credit to my brother, partner and CEO of our enterprise Ranjeet Bindra for his vision and passion in reshaping the hospitality space at this scale. God Speed.”
The timing of the announcement coincided with headlines surrounding a Rs. 60-crore fraud case involving Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, though the actress made it clear that the restaurant’s evolution is entirely unrelated to those developments.
