Salman Khan has officially commenced work on his upcoming film ‘Battle of Galwan’, a high-intensity war drama directed by Apoorva Lakhia. Filming is now underway in the rugged landscapes of Ladakh, marking the start of production for this ambitious project.
Originally, the team had constructed elaborate sets at Mehboob Studios in Mumbai to shoot key sequences. However, in a last-minute decision aimed at enhancing authenticity, Lakhia scrapped the studio schedule entirely. The sets were dismantled, with the director insisting that the high-altitude combat scenes be shot exclusively on location to preserve the film’s emotional and visual intensity.
‘Battle of Galwan’ is based on the real-life events of the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese forces. Salman Khan is set to portray Colonel Bikumalla Santosh Babu, the commanding officer who led Indian troops during the confrontation. The film aims to honour the courage and sacrifice of the soldiers involved, and is expected to be one of Khan’s most physically demanding roles to date.
