Mumbai Police begin extradition process to bring back Anmol Bishnoi in Salman Khan case

In a major development, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police has begun the extradition process to bring jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi back to India from the US.

Bishnoi is wanted in the firing incident that took place in Mumbai outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s home in Galaxy Apartments on 14th April this year.

According to reports, on Saturday, a senior official with the Mumbai Police said the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court has already issued a non-bailable warrant for the arrest of Bishnoi, also a Red Corner Notice to search for him abroad is being requested.

The official was quoted saying, “Waiting for certain court documents to complete the formalities, after which a formal proposal will be sent to the central government for further action.”

(A Red Corner Notice refers to a request made by a member state of Interpol to trace and arrest a wanted criminal).

“The special MCOCA court approved his Crime Branch application on October 16 and the police is expected to get the documents soon. For further action, Mumbai Crime Branch has sent an application to the Central Government for extradition of Anmol Bishnoi,” added the official.

On 25th October, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in India announced a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs for the arrest of Bishnoi.

He is charged in two NIA cases registered in the year 2022, apart from the particular firing incident involving Khan.

Indian authorities are urging anyone with information on Bishnoi’s whereabouts to come forward.

Bishnoi is believed to be linked with various criminal activities and is considered a prominent figure in organised crime.
