For the first time, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has collaborated with celebrated filmmaker Mohit Suri, known for his emotionally charged love stories, to present ‘Saiyaara’. The film has already received widespread acclaim for its intense romantic narrative and the refreshing chemistry shared by its lead debutants.
‘Saiyaara’ marks the launch of Ahaan Panday as a YRF leading man, alongside Aneet Padda, who gained recognition for her breakout role in the acclaimed series ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. Both newcomers have been praised for their striking screen presence and compelling performances.
Director Mohit Suri, who is celebrating 20 years in the industry, revealed that ‘Saiyaara’ was originally conceptualised as ‘Aashiqui 3’ before evolving into its own project.
“Romance has always been my favourite genre,” he shared. “I’ve always been fascinated by the deeply personal nature of people’s love stories, each one is unique, heartfelt, and often heart-breaking. I believe love can be transformative, a great healer.”
Suri continued, “I have an aashiqui with the romance genre, and I want to explore every layer of this complex emotion throughout my career. I had initially developed this story for ‘Aashiqui 3’, but when that didn’t materialise, it found its form in ‘Saiyaara’. Despite two decades of making love stories, I still feel like I’m just getting started. This film explores young, passionate love—fresh, raw, and deeply moving.”
Commenting on the film’s youthful lens, he added, “People often underestimate how deeply young people feel and love. ‘Saiyaara’ is my window into their world—their passions, vulnerabilities and commitment. It’s a celebration of how boundless and sincere young love can be.”
The film has already been hailed as one of the most anticipated romantic releases of this generation. Its soundtrack has struck a chord with audiences, with all four tracks—’Saiyaara’, Jubin Nautiyal’s ‘Barbaad’, Vishal Mishra’s ‘Tum Ho Toh’, and Sachet-Parampara’s ‘Humsafar’—dominating music charts across India.
The film’s evocative title, ‘Saiyaara’, has also captured audience imagination. While it literally means “a wandering celestial body”, it is often used in poetry to symbolise someone ethereal, brilliant, and unattainable—like a star that guides from afar but can never be reached.
Produced by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, ‘Saiyaara’ is set for a global theatrical release on 18th July 2025, and promises to continue YRF’s proud legacy of timeless romance, following in the footsteps of classics helmed by Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra.
