Karan Johar has offered his strongest indication yet that he will return to film direction in 2026, marking a new chapter in his celebrated career.
The filmmaker behind iconic Bollywood blockbusters such as ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ took to social media to share a reflective post, hinting at personal transformation and creative renewal.
“He Sun… the Sea… the Clarity… The past year has been one of internal reevaluation, revelation, and resolution,” Johar wrote. “It almost feels like the beginning of version 2.0 of my life—where you cherish what truly matters and allow the rest to fade into emotional oblivion.”
He went on to confirm his return to the director’s chair: “2026 is the year I will be back on set. A promise I’ve made to myself… because it’s not only my happy space, it’s my only calling in life—to tell stories with all the hallmarks of good old-fashioned Hindi cinema. It’s in my DNA, so why run from it… or try to please people I don’t even know?”
Acknowledging the introspective tone of his message, he added: “This may sound like a melange of scattered thoughts, but it comes with immense clarity. Seizing the moment, not just the day… Love you all.”
