With ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ continuing its impressive run at the box office, Aamir Khan is set to be felicitated by multiplex exhibitors and cinema owners across India for his decision to withhold the film from OTT release.
The film, which has now surpassed Rs. 200 crore globally, will not follow a conventional OTT release route. While it is expected to eventually arrive on a streaming platform, no date or service has yet been confirmed.
Speaking to reporters, Aamir said: “Since I haven’t sold the OTT rights and our film is not releasing on OTT, isliye shayad All India Theatre Owners have decided to felicitate me for the step that I have taken. I am happy that they thought about it,” adding that he feels “very humbled” by the gesture.
