FWICE calls for Diljit Dosanjh to be dropped from ‘Border 2’

Diljit Dosanjh is reportedly set to be dropped from the forthcoming film ‘Border 2’, following controversy surrounding his upcoming Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, which is scheduled for release in international cinemas.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has voiced its disappointment and concern regarding Dosanjh’s involvement in ‘Border 2’. The actor-singer has faced a wave of backlash on social media after the trailer for ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ was released online. The film features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, which has sparked criticism in certain circles.

FWICE has issued a formal letter addressed to Bhushan Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of T-Series; JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, producers at JP Films; and director Anurag Singh.

The letter states, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film ‘Border 2’, produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr Anurag Singh.”

‘Border 2’ also stars Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, and Ahan Shetty. The much-anticipated sequel to the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’ is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
