Renowned filmmaker Shyam Benegal, celebrated for his profound contributions to Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 90.
The veteran director had been battling chronic kidney disease. His passing comes shortly after he marked his 90th birthday on 14th December.
Benegal’s illustrious career earned him numerous accolades, including multiple National Film Awards for iconic films such as ‘Bhumika: The Role’ (1977), ‘Junoon’ (1978), ‘Arohan’ (1982), ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’ (2004), ‘Manthan’ (1976), and ‘Well Done Abba’ (2010).
