Fawad Khan’s long-delayed film ‘Abir Gulaal’ is reportedly being reconsidered for release in international markets, mirroring the strategy recently adopted by ‘Sardaar Ji 3’.
Starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, the film was shelved from its intended theatrical release in India earlier this year, amid heightened India–Pakistan tensions. The involvement of a Pakistani actor led to an effective ban on its domestic distribution.
However, with ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, now screening in cinemas outside India, there is growing speculation that international-only releases may become a workaround for filmmakers collaborating with Pakistani talent.
Neither the producers of ‘Abir Gulaal’ nor distributors have formally confirmed this release strategy, but industry insiders suggest it could signal a shifting approach in cross-border film partnerships.
