Abhishek Bachchan has approached the Delhi High Court seeking legal protection of his publicity and personality rights, following a surge in unauthorised use of his image, voice, and likeness across digital platforms. The plea, filed on 10th September, comes just a day after his wife, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, submitted a similar petition to the same court.
Bachchan’s legal team, led by advocate Pravin Anand, argued that various websites and online platforms have been circulating manipulated content, including AI-generated videos and sexually explicit material falsely attributed to the actor.
During the hearing, Justice Tejas Karia acknowledged the seriousness of the matter and stated that the Court would pass an order on the plea. The judge instructed Bachchan’s counsel to respond to specific queries and to provide a detailed breakdown of the defendant entities involved.
The case reflects growing concerns over the misuse of celebrity identities in the digital age, particularly through deepfake technology and unauthorised merchandising.
