Veteran radio broadcaster Ravi Sharma was honoured with the Special Award for Contribution to Broadcasting at this year’s Asian Achievers Awards, held on Friday 19th September 2025 at the prestigious London Hilton on Park Lane.
Now in its 23rd year, the Asian Achievers Awards remains the UK’s most prominent celebration of British Asian excellence across a range of fields. The glittering ceremony welcomed nearly 600 guests, including celebrities, business leaders and global stars, with the collective net worth of the room estimated to exceed £25 billion.
Ravi Sharma, a beloved voice on Lyca Gold Radio, was recognised for his extraordinary 50-year career in broadcasting. From humble beginnings in Rohtak, Haryana, where he worked as a cement mixer and rickshaw driver, Sharma moved to the UK and became one of the most cherished South Asian voices on British airwaves. His signature blend of music, reflections, phone-ins and news updates earned him a loyal following across generations.
