Leading Asian radio broadcaster Lyca Radio has been shortlisted at the Audio & Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS), widely regarded as the Radio Oscars and organised by the Radio Academy.
In the shortlist announced on Wednesday 22nd April, Lyca Radio was named a finalist in the John Myers Local Station of the Year category. The station will compete alongside several major non‑Asian outlets, including BBC Radio Manchester, BBC Radio Merseyside, BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC Radio Ulster, Clyde 1, Forth 1 and Original 106.
Lyca Radio, which has enjoyed strong official listening figures and continues to rapidly expand its presence across the UK, stands out as the only Asian commercial radio station to feature in this year’s shortlist, a notable achievement for the network.
Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Radio Network, said, “We are absolutely ecstatic. Lyca Radio has not only made history but has truly changed the game for British Asian broadcasting. To be recognised on a national level alongside some of the UK’s biggest radio brands is a testament to our team’s relentless hard work, our listeners’ unwavering loyalty and our commitment to pushing boundaries. We set out to elevate Asian radio to new heights – breaking records along the way and this nomination proves that our vision is resonating louder than ever.”
The winners will be announced at the main ARIAS ceremony on 21st May 2026.
