Lyca Gold switches to non-stop Dharmendra classics

Lyca Gold, London’s No.1 Asian Retro Music Station, has transitioned to a continuous playlist of Dharmendra classics following the passing of the legendary Bollywood actor.

The news of his death emerged at approximately 08:00 on Monday. In response, Lyca Gold presenter Kajal immediately set aside her scheduled programming in order to dedicate the morning to Dharmendra’s timeless songs.

Dharmendra, often hailed as the ‘He-Man of Bollywood’, enjoyed a prolific career spanning over six decades. He made his debut in the late 1950s and went on to become one of Indian cinema’s most beloved and enduring stars. Renowned for his versatility, Dharmendra excelled in romantic dramas, action films and comedies alike. His iconic performances in films such as ‘Sholay’, ‘Phool Aur Patthar’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Satyakam’, and ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’ cemented his position as a cornerstone of Hindi cinema. Beyond his on-screen charisma, he was admired for his humility, warmth and deep connection with audiences across generations.

As the UK’s first and London’s leading Asian Retro Music Station, Lyca Gold is marking the occasion with tributes throughout the entire day.

Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Radio Network, stated, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Dharmendra’s passing. As a station committed to honouring the greatest superstars of the Indian film industry, we are proud to dedicate our programming to Dharmendra classics. Tributes will continue across the week on the Lyca Radio Network.”

Lyca Gold is available on 1035 AM and DAB digital radio in London, with selected programmes also broadcast on Lyca Radio in Greater Manchester and the Midlands.
