‘Anupamaa’ star Rupali Ganguly files Rs. 50 crore defamation notice against stepdaughter Esha Verma

Rupali Ganguly has taken legal action by filing a defamation notice against her stepdaughter, Esha Verma.

The ‘Anupamaa’ star issued a Rs. 50 crore notice, accusing Esha of “maligning” her reputation and personal life. This legal notice addresses what Ganguly claims are “false and damaging statements” made by Esha on social media.

According to the notice, Ganguly was taken aback by Esha’s posts and comments, which appeared on various platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. The notice states it was issued to clarify the facts and counter the allegations.

“Our client states that she was shocked to see the posts and comments published by you on various social media platforms, including Twitter (now X), Instagram, and Facebook. Our client states that it is apposite to put forth the true and correct facts,” the notice reads.

Initially, Ganguly refrained from responding out of respect, but she was prompted to act legally after her husband Ashwin Verma’s 11-year-old son was drawn into the matter. The actress has demanded a public apology from Esha; failure to do so may lead to further legal action, as specified in the notice.

The notice further clarifies that Ganguly had been friends with Ashwin Verma for 12 years before he separated from his second wife, Esha’s mother, in 2009.
